Overview
ScrollChamps helps private groups compare yesterday's iPhone Screen Time. We do not read Screen Time directly from iOS APIs, do not run background Screen Time tracking, and do not offer manual entry. Users submit screenshots, and OCR runs on device for the current release.
Information We Collect
- Account and profile data, including Firebase authentication identifiers, display name, year of birth provided during onboarding, linked sign-in providers, optional email for magic-link sign-in, group membership, active group, screen-time visibility setting, notification preferences, selected device label, and related confirmation timestamps.
- Submission data, including day key or date, total minutes, optional social minutes, OCR confidence or source metadata, submission timestamps, and timezone identifiers.
- Group, safety, and result data, including group name, invite code, sender-linked attribution for accepted invite links, cutoff settings, membership and admin flags, join requests, removal restrictions, emoji reactions, reaction blocks, Daily W progress, weekly medal activity, and result history.
- Safety-report data, including the reporting account, group, reported display name or reaction, and limited evidence needed to review the report.
- Notification data, including APNs token, reminder preferences, result-ready preferences, and delivery records used to deduplicate backend notifications.
- Local app state and cache data needed for continuity, widget display, onboarding, and share-extension handoff.
On-Device OCR and Screenshots
- OCR is processed on device using Apple Vision in the current release.
- Screenshots are not sent to third-party OCR providers.
- When a screenshot is shared through the iOS share extension, it may be staged temporarily in local App Group storage for handoff to the main app, then removed during cleanup.
- The app stores extracted values and submission metadata needed to power Daily W progress, weekly group results, Trends, and widgets.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate users and support Apple, Google, and email magic-link sign-in.
- Record screenshot-derived submissions and compute Daily W progress, weekly group results, Trends, and medals.
- Honor exact-time visibility settings. Rankings remain visible to group members, while exact numbers are visibility-gated per user.
- Evaluate which age groups find ScrollChamps most relevant using the year of birth provided during onboarding.
- Understand which invite sources help ScrollChamps grow when a user accepts a tracked invite link.
- Operate group safety controls, enforce reaction blocks, and review reports where group-level controls cannot resolve a safety issue.
- Send enabled reminders, group activity alerts, weekly-results notifications, and weekly percentile-ready notifications.
- Maintain service reliability, prevent duplicate notifications, and support account deletion and support requests.
Sharing and Visibility
- Group rankings are visible to members of the relevant group.
- Exact Screen Time numbers follow each user's "Show my screen time" setting and may be subject to anti-abuse cooldowns.
- Weekly percentile scorecards use aggregate usage data. ScrollChamps does not operate a public exact-time leaderboard.
- Emoji reactions are visible to group members, except that reactions from a member you block are hidden from you and that member cannot react to your cards in that group.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Messaging.
- Apple services, including Sign in with Apple, Apple Vision, APNs, widgets, and iOS share extension capabilities.
- Google Sign-In and Firebase email-link authentication when you choose those sign-in methods.
- RevenueCat supports ScrollChamps Pro subscriptions and associated entitlement status. ScrollChamps Pro currently unlocks the Global Score share-card preview and export.
Retention and Deletion
We retain account, group, submission, Daily W, weekly-result, safety-report, notification, and operational records needed to provide ScrollChamps. You can delete your account from Settings. Temporary share-extension files are removed during handoff and cleanup flows, and local caches may be overwritten or cleared as part of normal app and account lifecycle.
Your Choices
- You choose whether exact Screen Time values are visible to others.
- You control notification preferences in the app and through iOS system settings.
- You choose which supported sign-in providers to link to your account.
- You can leave a group, group admins can approve join requests and remove members, and you can block reactions from a member or report a display name or reaction.
Children's Privacy
